Now that Operation Break Up was complete, I had a new mission: find out what was going on with Hester. To gather my intel, I made my way to the school’s information hub, the place you can find out anything at any school—the girls’ bathroom. “Hester got a major makeover,” one girl told me. “She got all new makeup, went on a total shopping spree, and she flirted with the guy who works at the counter of the tanning salon to get a free month-long membership! I heard she’s in the running for prom queen.”

But that wasn’t all. It seemed everyone had noticed her transformation. “Hester’s been totes flirting with your boyfriend. You know, the cute blonde guy? You two are still going out, right?” Sounds like English Lit notes aren’t the only thing Hester is trying to steal from me! I was so furious that my eyes practically had flames in them.

 

“She’s the new ‘it’ girl,” the cheerleading captain told me. Are you kidding? Not to go all mean girls on you guys, but I basically made her.

 

“When is everyone going to come crashing back down to reality?” I shouted, storming out of the bathroom and clumsily colliding into someone—it was Hester, and she was looking borderline skanky.
