“Oh, hi Lennox. This is awkward,” Hester said.
“Not as awkward as your social skills,” I yelled.
“It’s especially convenient for me that your romantic involvement with Aidan has concluded because I asked him out on a date,” Hester gloated.
I was clenching my teeth so hard that I thought one of them might chip off. “Haven’t you ever heard of girlfriend code? You don’t just ask your best friend’s boyfriend on a date like two seconds after the break up. Didn’t I teach you anything?’
Hester looked confused. “I didn’t just ask Aidan out a few minutes ago. I asked him out the other night after I told him that you had another boyfriend,” Hester explained. “You should read about it on my new blog.”
“You did what?” I barked. That’s why Aidan seemed so unheartbroken by our break up. Who did this girl think she is? It was time for a little friendly frenemy throw down. “Listen, Lady Nuts-a-lot, the blogosphere is MY thing, and there’s only room for one of us there, so back off!”
“I propose a competition,” Hester said. “Whoever’s blog gets the most visitors by prom night wins. Loser has to delete her blog forever.”
“You’re on!” I told her. Now, if you’ll excuse me—I have some more blogging to do, so keep reading!
