Aria’s romantic life seemed to be going well. Sure she was technically dating her teacher, but they were successfully sneaking around and both very happy. Aria kept their romance a huge secret. She didn’t even tell the other girls. Unfortunately, someone ("A") knew and the relationship quickly hit a speed bump.

One of Ezra’s friends ran into them while they were out one night and warned Ezra that his relationship with Aria was scandalous and could be dangerous for him. And later, when Ezra intercepted a text message from “A” that was meant for Aria, he called their relationship quits. He didn’t realize “A” was terrorizing Aria – he thought Aria was just immaturely bragging about their relationship to her friends.
