When Jack is talking to his dad about wanting a relationship with Grace, he says he wants a "real relationship," meaning with sex. Jack says that he's almost 19, and in college and he could be having sex all the time if he wanted. He thought walking into church with Madison would make Grace reconsider.

A few things to think about here: 1) Does there need to be sex for a relationship to be real? Jack thinks so, but there are lots of people who are in love and have "real relationships" without ever going all the way. Take Amy and Ben for example. Their relationship was real, wasn't it? Lauren's relationship with Jesse was real and they never had sex. 2) If Jack wants to have a real relationship with Grace, shouldn't it be based on more than Grace suddenly feeling jealous because he shows up somewhere with Madison? Real relationships are based on trust and togetherness and having things in common – not jealousy. Or sex.
