Grace is really lucky because she and her mom are able to talk about personal stuff – like sex and relationships – without getting weirded out or too embarrassed. And it's good that Grace talks to her mom about these things, because her mom has some really good advice. For example:
-- When it comes to relationships, her mom tells her "You ask for what you want and if he can't give it to you then get out of the relationship. You need to have enough self-respect to break up with him" if things aren't working for you. Easier said than done of course, but really reassuring to hear it from your mom, don't you think?
-- When it comes to sex, her mom says "Good sex depends on a good relationship, and good relationships depend on a lot of things, like communication and how well you know someone." So if Adrian was with Jack and thought he was "timid" in bed, but Grace's experience with him wasn't like that at all, maybe the reason is because Jack had serious feelings for Grace but not for Adrian. That thought hadn't even occurred to Grace until her mom brought it up.
What did you think of Grace's conversation with her mom? Or Amy's similar talk with her dad? Do you ever talk to your parents about personal topics like this? What's the best advice they ever gave you? Tell us in the comments! And for more to talk about from this episode – like Ethan saying he's good with condoms, or why it can be uncomfortable to compare notes with your friends about sex –
