There are a few much needed conversations about respect happening around Grant High. After his dinner with Kathy and the family she hopes will adopt her baby, Ethan gets schooled in letting Kathy make her own choices, backing off when he's gone too far and being respectful to the adoptive family. And that was just from Ricky. When Margaret gets her turn, she lays down the law about having respect all women, including herself and Kathy. She explains how having a healthy relationship with his mother will help his relationship with Kathy, and she makes sure he knows he has to learn to live with the answer "no."
Ben also gets some strongly worded advice from the Sausage King about respecting women. His immature comment about a teenage girl remaining a prostitute because she must have liked it earned him a verbal smack down from his father. Where did he get the idea it was okay to have sex with women he doesn't care about? He has no idea what women go through in life and needs to learn how to respect them, rather than treat them like property, much like he's done with Amy. Just because he was there for her when she was pregnant doesn't mean she belongs to him.
What do you think about Ethan's behavior? Do you think he'll take Margaret's advice to heart and change his ways? What about Ben? Will he ever learn to respect women? What would you tell Ethan and Ben about respect? Is a lack of respect toward girls and women something you deal with in your own life? Tell us about it in the comments!
