The holidays are a great time to relax, eat good food, spend time with friends and family, celebrate the past year and look forward to the next one.  It’s also a great time to reflect on choices made, things learned, and goals for the future.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the teens on Secret Life, it’s that having a baby before you’re ready is really hard. Amy and Ricky are good parents to John but they’ve both had to grow up quickly and give up a ton. They’re very lucky to have had such a great support system of friends and family to rely on.  It seems like only yesterday Ricky was one of the kids running around the toy store on Christmas Eve, but now he’s had to take on the responsibility of being a father.  And Amy has a lot more to worry about now than the color of the bike she got for Christmas; she has to put her son’s needs before her own and her primary focus is being a mother.

What are you looking forward to? What do you hope you’ll achieve by this time next year? Whatever it is, don’t mess it up with an unplanned pregnancy. Not having sex is the only 100% effective way to prevent a pregnancy.  But if you are going to have sex, make sure you use a reliable method of birth control every single time, even on holidays.
