Character Bio

On paper, Margaret is Ricky's foster mother, but she's the closest thing to a real mom he's ever had. She tries to give him the freedom to have a normal high school life, but when she makes rules, she expects them to be followed, with no exceptions. And, though Ricky may think he can keep secrets from her, he's usually wrong: She's a social worker, after all, and she stays up to date on all the latest news in town. It was partly her encouragement that helped Ricky see that he has what it takes to be a parent. After Ricky disappeared to go find his mom in Hollywood, she and Dr. Shakur really stepped up for him during the custody battle over John.
